Pyracantha is a quick-growing evergreen shrub that has white hawthorn-like flowers in early summer and bright orange, red or yellow berries in autumn and winter. Pyracantha has large thorns on the branches that make it any excellent choice as a security barrier up to 3m tall. Plant Pyracantha in free-draining soil in sun or shade. Rate of growth: up to 50cm per year.
